Jay Matsueda (Class of '95) has written and performed music throughout high school, his days at UPENN, and thereafter at venues all across America. Matsueda's emotive, melodic vocal style has been described as being influenced by Tracy Chapman, Morrissey and Jeff Buckley, while still remaining distinctive and all his own. Currently L.A.-based, Matsueda has delved into the local scene to the extent that he now plays with some of the VERY BEST musicians in the city. Joining him on the 30th will be three amazing L.A. pros. Katisse Buckingham (flute/sax) has toured with the Yellowjackets as a sub for Bob Mintzer. You may also know Katisse's flute playing if you recall the solo acted out by Will Farrell in movie Anchorman. Stellar musician Larry Steen of the World Jazz Ensemble will play electric bass, and session veteran Chris Wabich will be on drums that night. If you've seen a Jay show before, you'll also realize that any number of surprise guest musician friends could end up joining in on stage impromptu, such is the nature of his show.
